Port Macquarie's Town Square Christmas tree at the end of Horton Street will light up for the festive season on Thursday night (November 25) as the countdown to Christmas begins.
There will be no street parade this year, however Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will screen three performances on the facade of the Historic Courthouse in Clarence Street each night throughout December.
Here are some cracking Christmas events across the Port Macquarie- Hastings and Camden Haven:
Production 1- The Christmas Bell - A Moment For Us All
Screening nightly at 7pm from 25 November 2021 - 3 January 2022.
With the help of our region's talented performing artists, passionate locals and some special guests, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council launched this special online production in 2020 as a way for our community to come together after a challenging year. Come and share in a special 15 minute 'directors cut' by local producers, Got Ya Back Productions, and share in the wonderful local talent celebrating and enjoying the places and stories which connect us all. Speaking of places, there are lots of lovely ones appearing in this film that you can check out in person, including: Queens Lake Nature Reserve, Moripo Park Escape, Lighthouse Beach, Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park, Christmas Bell Plains and Lake Innes Nature Reserve.
Production 2 - Special preview of 'Connecting the Dots' - Mara Nyiirun.gay Barrayga Nyaagi Djuyal (Come With us on Country to See Story)
Screening nightly at 8pm from 6-19 December 2021.
An enthralling bespoke sound and light installation, this exclusive preview of Connecting the Dots is set to be a highlight at ArtWalk 2022 (our signature cultural event), and features the many creative souls who call Port Macquarie-Hastings region home. Made possible with funding support from the NSW Government via the Regional Events Acceleration Fund. This 'sneak peak' is for a limited time only, and is to celebrate our performing arts community who were hit hard during the pandemic. Support local and give the gift of local arts this Christmas by seeing a live show, attending a gig or a workshop.
Production 3 - Wakulda - Weaving Our Stories As One
Screening nightly at 8.30pm, 7 days a week (ongoing installation)
Wakulda is a 10-minute production envelops the audience, telling the important stories that make up the rich history of Port Macquarie from our traditional owners of the land, the Birpai people, right through to the current day of the Bicentenary of European settlement in April 2021.
Wakulda is a Federally-funded legacy project, receiving funding by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program; Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery grants program, an Australian Government bushfire recovery initiative; Building Better Regions Fund; as well as Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
LIGHTING UP OUR SURROUNDING TOWNS & VILLAGES
Light up Laurieton with the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce
Where: Laurieton Memorial Park, Laurieton
When: From December 1-31
Grab some yummy takeaway and head to the park during the festive period and enjoy the festive lights on the enormous Christmas tree!
The Santa Express is coming to the Camden Haven
Where: Various- Lakewood, Dunbogan, Laurieton, North Haven.
When: December 4 from 3.30pm
Christmas installation with Wauchope Chamber of Commerce
Where: Bain Park, 8 Range Street, Wauchope
When: From December 1-31
This festive season there is a large-scale Christmas installation planned for Bain Park Wauchope. The Town Christmas Tree and oversized decor are planned to be installed in the first week of December. The tree will be decorated with Christmas ornaments and solar lighting and will be a fabulous spot to stop by on the Christmas lights trail.
And if you haven't already, you simply MUST check out the Hastings Coop Department Store Christmas window display in the middle of Wauchope! It's just delightful.
The Westport Club's Christmas Under the Stars
When: Sunday 12 December, 5.30-9.30pm with special guest Gina Jefferys
Where: Westport Park precinct, Corner of Park and Buller Streets, Port Macquarie
Cost: $5 entry fee per person. Children 5 years and under are free.
Join a fun family night of carols, food trucks and amusement rides hosted by the Westport Club.
Santa's Jolly Lolly Run - Sovereign Hills
When: Thursday 16 December, 4pm - 6pm
Where: Sovereign Hills Port Macquarie, 14 Sovereign Drive
A special visitor is coming to the streets of Sovereign Hills with a sweet surprise for the kids. Get ready to see Santa on Thursday 16 December from 4pm, he'll be on board the Lake Innes Rural Fire Brigade truck. Check here to see the locations the truck will be stopping at, starting with the Sovereign Place Town Centre.
