This program will establish a better understanding for lake stakeholders and the community of the influence of rain in the Lake Cathie/Lake Innes estuarine system.
GoRain is an initiative by GoannaAg and is a low-cost, low-powered, highly accurate and reliable rain gauge that automatically reports data when rainfall is received, powered by Myriota satellite technology, Revive Lake Cathie president Danielle Maltman said.
Revive Lake Cathie has established a GoRain gauge on a private property at the southern end of Lake Innes.
The GoRain gauge automatically collects, records and empties the gauge when raining and sends data via satellite to the GoRain gauge webpage for Lake Innes.
Revive Lake Cathie also has a weather gauge at Lake Cathie. This weather gauge feeds information to an app where members then collate the data, Ms Maltman said.
"Recording of the overall data creates a baseline for information of the amount of rainfall into Lake Cathie/Lake Innes estuarine system that has never been recorded before," she said.
Revive Lake Cathie's GoRain program results will be available on Revive Lake Cathie's website www.revivelakecathie.com.au.
"This program is another local initiate by the citizen science community volunteers of Revive Lake Cathie.
"Revive Lake Cathie member volunteers are the "Voice of the Lake" who take action to look after our own backyard and future proof our lake."
