A man and woman will face court next week, a NSW Police statement said.
Under s105 of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998 the pair cannot be identified.
As part of ongoing investigations under Strike Force Rosann, detectives from the Homicide Squad received information relating to the alleged assault of a child at a home in Sydney.
Following inquiries, Strike Force Rosann detectives served Court Attendance Notices on legal representatives of a 56-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, NSW Police confirmed.
They were each charged with common assault.
The pair are due to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday, November 23.
