Sailability Port Macquarie made the sailing experience a reality on Wednesday [November 3].
Ohna said she loved everything about sailing with the volunteer group.
"I'm treated lovely and I have good conversations with the sailors - it's very interesting," she said.
"Everyone here has been so wonderful to me."
Sailability Port Macquarie is a volunteer organisation with a mission to offer people with varying abilities freedom on the water.
The organisation's president, Bob Walsh, said the group put a COVID-safe plan in place and got the team together to take Ohna sailing on her 100th birthday.
"This is what it's all about - it is freedom on the water," he said.
"We are blessed to have Ohna at 100 years of age wanting to go sailing on the water."
Ohna is Sailability Port Macquarie's oldest participant. She started sailing with the group seven years ago.
Sailability Port Macquarie volunteers gave Ohna a bunch of flowers before her sailing experience which was followed by birthday cake and celebratory drinks.
Ohna's family organised the sailing experience with Sailability Port Macquarie as a 100th birthday surprise.
The birthday celebrations also included morning tea and cake at St Agnes Hostel, her favourite curry pie for lunch on the Town Green and a small get-together with family and friends.
A party with family is planned on Saturday [November 6].
Ohna was born in Guyra and called Armidale home until 1980 when she moved to Port Macquarie.
She lived through the Great Depression and World War II.
Ohna is very community-minded and a role model for her family.
