The school secured land at John Oxley Drive, Thrumster to allow its community to continue to expand, after it outgrew its original location at Table Street, Port Macquarie.
Alanna Alfaro is chair of the fundraising committee and a member of the Steiner School board and said the development is very exciting.
"Each classroom is specifically designed with the developmental stage of the child in mind," she said.
"These children are going to be the future leaders of our world."
The board has been searching for a new location for the Steiner School since mid 2018 after it became clear the Table Street campus would have a limited lifespan.
The new school development will be built in three stages, with the first stage allowing students to be based at the Thrumster location and Table Street.
Mrs Alfaro said the board is aiming to have stage one carried out in 2023.
Stage one of the development is estimated to cost $947,000 and the board has applied for a grant to assist them.
However, Mrs Alfaro said the school will also have to fundraise another $330,000 to make up the remaining cost.
"It's a big amount but we can do it," she said.
"Anything is possible and we have some time up our sleeves."
Mrs Alfaro said the development will enable children to have the space they need to grow and prosper.
The vision is to create the school utilising natural elements such as timber and stone.
"Nothing goes in without thought," Mrs Alfaro said.
"Everything has purpose."
The new development will be big enough to cater for 180 students.
Bronwyn Bellemore is the Steiner School's architect and was in charge of the Coffs Harbour's Casuarina Steiner School design.
She said the Steiner School design will be unique to Port Macquarie.
Cheryl Meyer Millican is a Steiner School board member and said they feel lucky to have found the location at Thrumster, after searching for years to find something which would suit the development.
