Sailing star Rohan Nosworthy has won the 2021 Regional Australia Bank Sportsperson of the Year Award in the Port Macquarie Hastings Sports Awards organised by Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise.

In the past two years, Rohan has won four national titles and six NSW and Qld state titles across four sailing classes.
Rohan was the 2020 Australian champion in NS14 class, Heron class and MG class. He has also been runner-up in four other class state titles.
Rohan has won the past three Northern NSW regional sailing regattas and the NSW state interclub trophy.
Rohan's son Aidan joined dad on the winner's list, taking out the 2021 AusSport Scoreboards primary school junior sportsperson of the year for his achievements in sailing over 2020/21.
Aidan competed in his first state titles at the age of five.
At the ripe old age of 10 he has now won four national titles and three state titles and has been on the podium several other times at regional and state events.
He is the 2021 National Champion - Sabot Spark Class; 2020 National Champion - Heron and 2020 NSW State Champion - Heron Class.
The Awards this year highlighted the diversity of community sports in the area.
Motocross/Enduro champion Billy Hargy was awarded Donovan Oates Hannaford Junior Sportsperson of the Year - High School.
Billy has competed in the Australian Off-Road Championships for the past four years with consistent results every year.
Jasmine Ferguson was announced winner of the Laing+Simmons Sportsperson with a Disability award for her representations and wins in national athletics competitions.
In the Teams categories, the Patterson Real Estate Junior Team of the Year award went to Port City Breakers U11s Navy Rugby League team who have been undefeated in six years and were Group 3 rugby league minor premiers and premiers for 2020.
They were minor premiers when Covid ended the 2021 season.
The Donovan Oates Hannaford Senior Team of the Year award went to Port Macquarie Touch Mens 20.
This team won the NSW Touch Association State cup title in their division in 2020 amongst other titles.
With the depth of talent nominated from across the last two years, two Excellence in Sporting Achievements sponsored by Greenmeadows Health Centre were awarded.
One to Emma Schuch for her all-round achievements across Ironman, marathons and adventure racing and the second to Eastcoast Women Futsal team for their national level achievements.
Local hockey stalwart, Simon Thresher was recognised as Hastings Physiotherapy Volunteer of the Year for his services to local sport.
Simon volunteers many, many hours to not only the day-to-day running of the competition but project directing the building of 'Hockey Place' clubhouse for use by the whole association.
Passion and determination was highlighted with the awarding of the 2021 Wayne Richards Sporting Scholarship to Chelsea Hall for her excellence in football.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson said Chelsea is a wonderful role model for young women across the region.
"Port Macquarie-Hastings has a strong history of producing elite sportspeople - and it's clear there is so much talent in our area," she said.
"Chelsea's hard work and dedication will ensure she has a bright future ahead - we can't wait to see her in the green and gold!"
President of the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise, Steven Bruce, was full of praise for all entrants, the organising committee and the hard work that the judges had in assessing the 59 nominations.
"Rotary is all about community, connecting and taking action and with these sports awards I see connections all around me, together with drive, enthusiasm and perseverance," he said.
"With a total of $8,000 in prizes awarded to local athletes, I am sure the many recipients will be inspired to even higher levels of achievement.
"Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and a special thank you to the organising committee and the judges.
"A Covid safe change in format this year shifted nominee announcements to social media, ensuring the 2021 Awards were able to proceed."

The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise launched the Port Macquarie Hastings Sports Awards 22 years ago to encourage participation in sport by young people across the region and provide some financial support to local champions to help them achieve their sporting goals.

The Wayne Richards Scholarship was launched in 2004 by the Mayor's Sporting Fund sub-committee as a tribute to former Mayor Wayne Richards who established the Mayor's Sporting Fund in 1999 and was a passionate supporter of youth and sport in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.
