Macquarie Coast Stingers' chairman of selectors Aaron Hagenbach is excited about which 20-over representative star has arrived on the Mid-North Coast cricket scene over the next month.
The Stingers' path to the Regional Big Bash will start on November 7 in the Hastings.
Four venues will see six sides battle it out as players vie for final selection in the team for the trip to Lismore on December 4 and 5.
Using an AFL draft-style concept, the teams have settled on their squads. Only the best will progress to selection for the Stingers.
"People will talk about the draft picks and how well they performed," Hagenbach said.
"It's going to be exciting to look back on it and see who announced themselves as a T20 star who we otherwise may not have known about.
"We might be asking questions like 'who was draft pick 49 and where did he come from?' or be disappointed about some of the higher draft picks who may not have performed."
The four-week carnival will see the Huntsmans, Scorpions, Fire Ants, Rays, Wasps and Hornets in action.
Oxley Oval will host two Pool A fixtures on November 7, with the second match to finish in the twilight. Wayne Richards Park will host the two Pool B fixtures on November 7.
Matches will also be played under lights at Oxley Oval on November 11, 12 and 17.
It will then host the final on November 28 before the sun goes down. Laurieton Oval and Andrews Park at Wauchope will host qualifying and knockout semi-finals on November 14.
In addition to the two Pool B fixtures on November 7, Wayne Richards Park will host a preliminary final on November 21.
"It gets cricket into those areas as well where they can see the best players playing," Hagenbach said.
"When you start going through the list of teams they've all got potential match-winners and that's what's exciting."
