Richie Roberts first dipped his toe into the Group 3 rugby league first grade coaching in 2021 and will hope he doesn't have to call on anything COVID-related he learned when the 2022 season kicks off next April.

Roberts has been confirmed as the Port City Breakers' head coach for next season while Tom James will take the reins of reserve grade and Ben Sprague the under-18s.
Club president Geoff Kelly said it was an easy decision to announce Roberts as the coach after consultation with the playing group.
"The players were approached and were extremely happy with Richie after he was the stand-in to assist Dan Kemp when he wasn't around last year," he said.
"We're happy to have him again next year and he will look to target a lot of the former Breakers boys and bring them back to the fold. That's what Richie's focus will be."
The club will hold off on making an announcement for their ladies league tag side after coach Di Lawrence had the birth of her first child a few weeks ago.
"We'd like to congratulate Di Lawrence on the birth of her son, but we're leaving her alone at the moment so she can spend some family time," Kelly said.
"She'll have a heavy input into who coaches the girls next year. We'd love to have her, but she'll have a big impact on who will coach."
Familiar faces such as Kelly, Peter Hesse, Dudley Millard and Belinda Fisher will again be on the club committee.
"We've built a solid foundation over the last seven or eight years, but we're happy with the committee although it can be hard to attract fresh blood to the club," Kelly said.
