There was one case of COVID-19 reported in the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) to 8pm yesterday (October 16).

The case is from the Kempsey Local Government Area (LGA) and is linked to a known case from the same LGA announced yesterday.
There were four cases reported on Saturday with three of those under investigation.
It is the 13th cases reported in Kempsey this week.
During the first wave of COVID-19 in 2020, the MNCLHD reported a total of 51 cases and one COVID-related death before a 475 day virus-free run in the community.
That run ended on August 13, 2021 when a Kempsey teen tested positive after returning home from Newcastle.
There have been 52 cases reported in the MNCLHD since the beginning of the current NSW outbreak.
There are currently 15 exposure sites across the MNCLHD region with venues of concern in Wauchope, Kempsey and Port Macquarie.

There has also been a detection of COVID-19 fragments in sewage samples taken at Woolgoolga on 15 October. The Woolgoolga Sewage Treatment Plan serves around 14,000 residents of Corindi Beach, Corindi, Arrawarra, Arrawarra Headland, Mullaway, Woolgoolga, Safety Beach and Sandy Beach.
There were also fragments of the virus detected in sewage samples taken from the Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Dunbogan sewage treatment plants earlier this week.
To the south in the Mid Coast local government area, there have been more than 42 cases reported this week. This region encompasses Taree, Gloucester and Forster and is a part of the Hunter-New England Health District.
Chatham Public School in Taree was forced to close after being identified as an exposure site. A member of the Wingham Public school community has also tested positive for COVID. This school has also been closed.
There have been 70 COVID cases recorded in Mid Coast LGA since August 5.
