There are more than 60 actions in the community-led blueprint.
The plan's vision recognises Wauchope is the heart of the Hastings with a proud community which preserves and celebrates its long history while embracing sustainable tourism, events and initiatives that attract visitors and grow the inclusive, connected community.
Goals and actions support the vision.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council endorsed the Wauchope and Surrounds Community Plan at its October meeting.
Deputy mayor Lisa Intemann said the community plan was the result of some quite intensive and extensive discussions with residents.
"Wauchope, under its plan, recognises its friendly nature, its charm, the fact that it is a smaller area than Port Macquarie and has no ambitions to be as large as Port Macquarie," she said.
"This is an area that has a tradition of self-help."
Cr Intemann said the Wauchope area had a strong history and many primary producers.
"We want to ensure there is good walking and cycling locally, that our youth are looked after and that tourism is developed," she said.
Cr Peter Alley said it was always exciting to read these community plans.
"They are always very informative, they give us a wonderful picture of each of our unique communities," he said.
The regional community planning process started in mid-2018 to work collaboratively to develop and deliver community plans.
Community-council action teams were established across 12 towns and villages.
A council report said community plans took a place-based approach that drew on the idea of participatory planning.
"They identify each community's vision, priorities and actions to achieve positive change, while recognising the unique qualities of each community and the challenges posed by significant forecast growth," the report said.
"The plans will enable us to assess these priorities across the entire LGA and assist communities to deliver projects relevant, and important, to them."
The Wauchope and Surrounds Community Plan involved extensive consultation with the community and the Community-Council Action Team representing the areas of Wauchope, King Creek, Crosslands, Yippin Creek, Huntingdon, Bago and Rosewood.
Cr Intemann said the endorsed plan's success depended on the interaction and the contribution by people, businesses and council together.
The council requested the chief executive officer consider progressing some of the plan's actions as part of any variation to the 2021-2022 Operational Plan and consider including some actions from the plan in the 2022-2023 Operational Plan, and also the delivery program for the upcoming period.
