The popular event last took place on August 14 before New South Wales was plunged into a statewide lockdown and community sport was put on hold.
Port Macquarie parkrun was due to celebrate its sixth birthday on October 30 this year after it was launched in 2016.
Now up to 250 people pound the pavement every weekend with December 4 the likely date they can resume.
While double-vaccinated residents started to enjoy some freedoms on October 11, Port Macquarie parkrun event director Sue Fitzgerald said all runners were likely to have to wait a little bit longer in the Hastings.
"Every week we're getting enquiries about when it is coming back so the community and people are obviously missing it so it'll be great to be back," Mrs Fitzgerald said.
"It's part of your Saturday morning ritual, isn't it? It will be great to see everyone smiling, running, enjoying coffee and seeing things go back to normal."
Mrs Fitzgerald, however, said no date had been locked in and they were waiting confirmation from head office when the event could return.
"We're awaiting confirmation as to how it fits in with the rules and regulations because there's no way you can check people's vaccination certificates," she said.
"We had QR codes, but there's no way of checking people's vaccination status."
