Port Macquarie Basketball Association has pencilled in October 25 as the date their junior competitors again hit the courts with the seniors to do the same on October 27.
Players 16+ must be fully vaccinated and will be required to show COVID marshalls proof of both vaccinations while players under 16 who are not fully vaccinated must be accompanied by a fully vaccinated member of their household.
Players under the age of 16 not accompanied by a suitable person will not be allowed to enter.
PMBA board member John Minihan said it was exciting to see sport once again be able to return to fields and courts around the region.
"We're trying to get as much basketball in as we possibly can," he said.
Previous competitions had normally proceeded until mid-December, however Mr Minihan said they were likely to continue right up until Christmas in 2021.
He said gaining more clarity around possible restart dates had made keeping their members up to date an easier process.
"It is what it is now, but at least up until we got to 70 and 80 percent guidelines we were a bit worried about what was possibly happening in the next week," he said.
"It looks as though we've passed that point now."
Hastings River District Cricket Association is awaiting the final green light, but it appears their season will start on November 6.
Training in groups of no more than 20 can commence from October 11 provided players are fully vaccinated, but when that starts is up to each individual club.
Surf life saving are also awaiting final confirmation on when nippers season can commence, but it also looks likely to be in early November with fully vaccinated competitors over the age of 16.
