Local shoots for NSW
Port Macquarie RSL Rifle Club captain Ean Quinn has been selected as a member of the NSW Rifle Association competition team to visit New Zealand.
Ean's selection is considered a high honour for both he and his club. It climaxed a year of successful shooting by Ean in local and inter-State competitions.
Successes include winning a Queensland Rifle Association badge at a recent Queen's shoot. His score was 349 out of a possible 355.
Surf Club honours
At the recent AGM of the Port Macquarie Surf Club, two members with a long history with the club received Life Memberships.
Max Waters' membership of the Port Macquarie club began in 1952. During that year he became secretary of the branch and was appointed member of the Board of Examiners.
In 1961-62, as branch secretary, Max inaugurated the North Coast branches Surf Championships annual carnivals.
Alan Dick has also devoted many years to the surfing movement, especially in the surf boat crews. He joined the Port Macquarie club as a cadet in 1952, and won the junior belt championship in both the 1954 and 1955. The junior open surf championship was his for two years, as was a second placing in the branch junior belt race in 1955-56.
Both men are still active in the surfing movement.
