Hannah Jones started her representative journey with Mid North Coast before university took her away from the area.

But her misfortune could be the catalyst to keep some of the best players in the FMNC Women's Premier League side at home where they would not have to travel to be recognised.

"At the moment the pathways for the girls are through the Jets or through Newcastle-based clubs," Budgen said.

"But if we can make links through the stronger Sydney clubs, it just spreads the word and gives more opportunities for all our players."

Hannah Jones started her representative journey with Mid North Coast before she had to move to Sydney University who she now plays for in the NSW Women's Premier League.

It's a similar path Tash Ruge may benefit from by receiving coaching from football staff at Sydney University who will play Mid Coast in a trial in February on the Mid North Coast.

"Hopefully it will be a nice little pathway for our future representative girls and there will be a nice little relationship going to form," Budgen said.

"Those links to the coaches have agreed to come and do things with us so it's good."

Mid Coast FC have announced that Mick Grass will be back for his fourth season in charge of their WPL squads with Young Matildas coach Leah Blayney to take up a coaching consultancy role.

It means the WPL players will now have increased access to some of the best training and coaching programs.

"Mick's been appointed head coach again which is good for the girls who have been there to know who the coach is; it's always a positive and gives us some stability," Budgen said.

"It's still a very young squad, but you've got to start somewhere."
