The NSW Blue Plaques Program, modelled on a similar initiative in the United Kingdom, will showcase key heritage sites.
I am asking everyone to think of the places in their community that have an important story attached to them and submit those suggestions to my office to be nominated for a Blue Plaque.
The place could be a much loved historic building, a place linked to a moment in history, or even somewhere linked to a local hero.
By suggesting these sites, we can make sure the places which matter most to our community can be considered for recognition with a Blue Plaque.
Whether its places, buildings or people that have had an important impact, across NSW there are hidden gems with stories that deserve to be told.
Behind every plaque is a story. We want everyone to be involved in making suggestions so we can recognise the people and places in our history, including those that matter most to local communities.
Nominations can be sent to my office by emailing portmacquarie@parliament.nsw.gov.au or phone 65840977.

Extra time to celebrate local women
The deadline for nominations for the 2022 NSW Women of the Year Awards has been extended to September 27.
I encourage anyone on our area to recognise the significant contributions women make to our community.
We all know a woman who is the first to roll up her sleeves to help others, has demonstrated incredible potential, or has made lasting change in her chosen field.
Let's not keep their achievements a secret. I urge everyone to put forward the inspirational woman in their life for an award.
