The final design for the project is complete.
The makeover has a confirmed investment of $988,040 with $737,275 contributed by the state government under round three of the Boating Now Program and $250,000 provided by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Initial work, with timing between late September and mid-December, will feature carpark reconstruction and a kayak wash-down stand.
The second stage comprises ancillary site works including rock revetment wall replacement, amenities building and landscaping.
That stage is planned for winter 2022, subject to a scope of works variation with the council's funding partner for the amenities building.
Subject to budget availability, as part of phase two, lighting and footpath works are proposed.
Blue Water Fishing Club president Geoff Shelton said the boat ramp upgrade would definitely be an improvement.
He said the council took a lot of community feedback on board.
But there are concerns about the angle of some trailer parking spaces.
"Some you can drive into and others you have to reverse the car and trailer in," Mr Shelton said.
He expects a lot of people will have trouble reversing their trailers into the parks after launching their boats, especially in the early morning when it is still dark.
The design features 85 formalised parking spaces for boat trailers, an additional 15 single car parking spaces, installation of two 20-metre wash down bays, installation of a 40m rigging bay, new kayak wash-down stand and footpath and lighting improvements.
The council consulted the community about the upgrade with feedback helping to shape the final design.
A kayak launch area was part of the concept design but community feedback highlighted amenities and additional lighting as the priority instead.
