As a ratepayer, resident and parent of 2 girls, born here in beautiful Port Macquarie Hospital I am disgusted, shocked and disappointed over Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's handling of our current fluoride crisis that we face.

Disgusted that a council in the 21st century would openly go against NSW Health's advice and Water NSW's laws regarding the fluoridation of public water supplies. We have previously had fluoride in our water so I simply don't understand why it can't be reinstated.
I'm under the impression that NSW Health have offered a 100 per cent subsidised upgrade of the facility/processing plant to add fluoride to our drinking water. Why has this offer not been accepted and activated?
I'm shocked that council and councillors think that the way in which the matter has been handled is acceptable and responsible. They stand by that way in which the data was reported - on their website, which I'm sure has low to no visitation.
I am disappointed that our Deputy Mayor, and Mayor are championing the community poll (which is a complete farce) on the fluoride matter.
This matter has the potential to impact our community in so many ways not limited to the dental detriment to our residents, including my daughters and the risk of having our town labelled or likened to other the anti-vaxer communities of the far north coast. Is that what our councillors want us to be labelled as?
I'd like to pose a question to all upcoming councillor candidates - who is standing up for the community to solve this fluoride problem?
I look forward to exercising my NSW right and responsibility to vote in the upcoming NSW Local Government Elections.
