Wauchope Blues, Port Macquarie Sharks and Old Bar Pirates have all confirmed their spots in the first grade semi-finals.

Whoever joins them could be determined when the state government make their lockdown decision later in the week which will be followed by the Group 3 board with Wingham Tigers appearing to take a great interest.

The Tigers currently sit in sixth spot, but appear the most affected by any decision.

Should regional NSW come out of its lockdown this weekend, everything is on the table, from shortening the finals by a week or two to abandoning the final round of the competition.

Group 3 chairman Wayne Bridge said his preference was to maintain the top five finals series which would run for four weeks.

"We've got to have a return to training date and then a return to play date because we can't throw the teams out there straight up," Mr Bridge said.

"They would need to have a few training sessions which would rule out this weekend."

Should the competition proceed as scheduled with a five-team finals series, Wauchope would have the first week off while Port Macquarie Sharks would face Old Bar Pirates and Port City Breakers would tackle Macleay Valley Mustangs.

The loser of the Sharks and Pirates would play the winner of the Breakers and Mustangs while the winner would face the Blues for the right to host the grand final.

"My option would be to stay as we are with the top five, but there's so many ifs and buts," Mr Bridge said.

Should the Group 3 board vote to run the last round of fixtures on September 4, but then shorten the finals series by one club and a week, it would then throw the Tigers into the mix.

The Tigers are one point behind the fourth-placed Port City and fifth-placed Macleay Valley, but Mick Sullivan's men would face the Breakers at Wingham while the Mustangs would host the Pirates.

Should the Tigers beat the Breakers and Old Bar knock over the Mustangs, Wingham would jump into fourth position and earn a finals spot.

"The NSW Rugby League will give us some guidance on (when we can return), but it will depend because we don't want to go past the end of September," Mr Bridge said.

"I wouldn't think the players would be keen on playing in October after the NRL grand final, but we do have to look at all options.

"But at this point in time things will stay the same should we come out of lockdown this weekend."
