Port Macquarie Paralympians Ryley Batt and Andrew Edmondson have touched down in Tokyo after a 34-hour trip from the Hastings to the Japanese capital.

They went the long way around starting with a road trip from Port Macquarie to Brisbane that included a stop at the NSW-Queensland border checkpoint.

Then they stopped at Brisbane before boarding a flight to Cairns. Then it was another flight from Cairns to Tokyo.

Upon arriving in Japan they went through a screening process at the airport before heading to the athlete's village.

"Airports are airports ... it's very exciting to be here," Batt told the Port News on Thursday night.

"There is already a big buzz around the Aussie allotment. The other half of the team arrives on Saturday morning.

"The processing (at the airport) was a lengthy process and took about six hours to get through customs, but it was fairly well organised. 33 degrees today! Beautiful weather ... loving it!"

After they navigated the way through the airport and customs, the team headed straight to the pool for a quick seven-minute recovery ice bath before they returned to their rooms.

And Batt answered the question most people were wondering about the beds.

"For you guys asking, yes the beds are cardboard. Better not wet the bed then, eh?" he said on his social media account.

They then started their day today with a couple of slices of vegemite on toast before they headed to the training court.

Batt and Edmondson will hit the court with the Australian Steelers on Wednesday (August 25) at 3pm when they take on Denmark in the first game of their quest to win three-straight Paralympic Games' gold medals.
