The idea for the album materialised during the COVID lockdown last year when the performance group weren't able to book shows due to restrictions.
Z Chord founder Khristina Joy said the group felt a bit lost when they weren't able to perform.
"We are primarily a performance group and when that just disappeared the group was like a ship without an ocean," she said.
"The idea to produce an album was always there, but when we couldn't perform we just decided to do it."
Khristina asked the group if they wanted to record an album, with most members putting their hand up to be involved.
"Some were brave enough to put on their brave pants and that's where the name for the album came from."
Brave Pants consists of eight songs by the group and was recorded locally.
"It took us from October last year to February this year to put it all together," Ms Joy said.
"It was sometimes difficult because we're a big group. Because of the size of the studio, we had to take turns recording.
"I'm very proud of the group and what they have achieved. It's quite difficult to both sing and play an instrument and they all have done so well.
"Recording the album did require the 13 members of the group to put on their brave pants and put in the effort to get it done."
Although COVID has put a pause on any live performances by the Z Chords, the group has no plans of slowing down.
"We are looking at doing another album. Now that we've done it once, we're up for the challenge and we're always working on new material," Ms Joy said.
The album is available on iTunes and Spotify and can be purchased directly from the group by contacting Khristina via email at kj@abbadabba.net
