HASTINGS Choristers are together again and are ready to hit the stage for the first time since March 2020.
The Together Again! concert will be on Sunday, July 25 at 2.30pm at the Port Macquarie Uniting Church, Sherwood Road.
Tickets are available at the door or through the Glasshouse Box Office.
The raw power of voices in harmony will be highlighted in the Together Again! concert, which will include plenty of audience favourites. The diverse works include the stirring Hallelujah, the all-time favourite Danny Boy, and Karl Jenkins varied and uplifting Motets.
Together Again! will be a celebration of the community's resilience over the last year and the shared joy of community choral singing and concert.
A special moment in the concert will be the world premiere of a specially commissioned choral work Our Song.
This challenging and uplifting work was composed by Ben Robinson who grew up in Port Macquarie.
Ben, a professional composer now based in Sydney, is a graduate of the composition program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The words are from Gillian Bennett, a member of Hastings Choristers.
Our Song has voices joining in joyous harmony to celebrate people coming together through song.
Supporting the Hastings Choristers will be the female ensemble, Cantabile who will perform two brackets of varied music, including Cold Play's Fix You and the ever popular Fever and Cerf Volante from the film Les Choristes, and two of Port Macquarie's talented young adult pianists, Nicola Awad and Joris Vaskys.
The Hastings Choristers has played an important role in the local community for over 30 years, particularly providing support over the last year with the challenges of COVID.
Robyn Ryan OAM, the musical director, said choir members are excited to once again interact with an audience.
"We bring a special opportunity to experience choral music of a great standard and of a wide range - a delight for all music lovers," she said.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for school children and will be available at the door or from the Glasshouse Box Office.
