I was joined by Leslie Williams MP, and a class of students from Port Macquarie Primary School to see the new play equipment in action. The smiles on the kid's faces said it all, the playground is certainly a winner.
The students' favourites of the day were unquestionably the play tower and slides, the wheelchair-friendly carousel, and the hamster wheels.
The upgrades looks fantastic, and the inclusive playspace is exciting for kids of all different ages and abilities to explore.
This is a space that kids in our region can come together, to grow their skills, socialise, challenge themselves, and have fun.
This project was made possible with $200,000 from the NSW government through an Everyone Can Play Grant, and $445,000 provided by council.
We are really maturing in the space of play as our community grows, we're making sure that our spaces have something for everyone.
I'm so pleased we have taken steps to make sure our playgrounds are accessible for all.
With the new inclusive play equipment, the skatepark, the beach, cafes, walking paths, and soon to be basketball court, there truly is something for everyone - children, parents, grandparents, carers and more.
I hope you all have the opportunity to explore the new playground, and I recommend your running shoes if you want to have a go on the hamster wheels.
And don't forget our parks and playgrounds interactive map that shows all our parks, playgrounds and reserves.
The map shows you the key features of reserves, making it easy to choose your next adventure with the family and kids.
