But in the end they shouldn't have worried after an overwhelming amount of walk-ups forced them to open up the entire skate park on Saturday (June 19).
In total, around 100 riders took to the Town Beach skate park with some of the best street skaters in the state kickflipping their way to success along with some impressive efforts in the bowl.
Originally the competition was to be strictly street-based, but with an overwhelming number of walk-ups from out of town arriving in Port Macquarie on the morning, they threw it open to everyone.
Sixty competitors across the under-12, under-16 and open divisions joined around 30 who participated in the skate clinic.
