Parklets see car parking spaces repurposed to help cafes and restaurants meet the need for more outdoor dining areas.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is amid a two-year trial of the initiative in the Port Macquarie town centre.
There are two outdoor dining parklets in Horton Street allowing diners to enjoy alfresco dining at Reyhana Turkish Restaurant and at the Ritz Complex.
Reyhana Turkish Restaurant manager Omer Elma said the outdoor dining parklet had doubled the restaurant's seating capacity.
That, in turn, has boosted revenue.
"When it's a beautiful day outside, we leave the umbrellas closed, because the sun shines through and people love it," he said.
Mr Elma said diners loved the setting and the initiative had been highly successful.
The restaurant decorates the outdoor dining parklet during holidays, such as Christmas, to add atmosphere.
Reyhana Turkish Restaurant's outdoor dining parklet has been in use since October 2019 as part of the council trial.
The Ritz Complex parklet came into effect 14 months later.
An update report on the Port Macquarie town centre parklet trial process went before the June council meeting.
Feedback will be sought from operators, building owners, the community and Town Centre Master Plan Sub-Committee for input into a final outcome report from the parklet trial.
The final report will be presented to the council after the conclusion of the trial period.
