The Novocastrians emerged from the two-day event with bragging rights over the Hastings riders with the contest going down to the final heat on Sunday afternoon at Lighthouse Beach.
Port Macquarie Bodyboarding Association president Dan Little said it went down to the wire.
"Kingy had to win it and Newcastle had to come third, but there was interference on a wave which made Kingy finish fourth to give Newcastle the win," he said.
"Everything ran smoothly; it was a well-organised event and the Port Macquarie crew knew what they had to do. Carissa Dwyer is the backbone of PMBA."
Little admitted Newcastle were the rightful winners of the competition as the most consistent team overall.
"Newcastle wanted it more; all their team was there for eight hours, they didn't leave the beach," he said.
"As a team they deserved the win."
