The presentation of pennants and trophies got underway on schedule and were presented to various Nippers by the mayor, Ald. D. S. Kennedy.

Attendance, behaviour and ability, plus the rescue last season of a young boy at Flynn's Beach, after the beach had been closed by the Surf Club, led Neil Smith to being named "Nipper of the Year". Neil has been a member of "Nippers" for several years and also gained quite a few pennants for the season.

Another Nipper who did exceedingly well over the last season is 7-year-old Grant Mitchell, who won the overall handicap point score. This is the second year in succession that Grant has won this event which no doubt is a credit to any boy.

Grant also won a bicycle for being the boy who scored the highest overall point score, including carnivals; which is to be donated back to Nippers on advice from his parents.

Paul Hicks was club champion and also won the Iron Man event, which was introduced for senior members during the season. Close runner-up in the Iron Man event was Rodney Landy, who was also equal runner-up with Wayne Potts in the club championship events.

Champions of Port Macquarie Swimming Club were honoured at a happy presentation of trophies evening last week. The deputy mayor, Ald. C. C. Adams, presided at the presentations and heartily congratulated outstanding swimmers Alan Witchard, Amanda Banes and Julie Dunn amongst many other fine performers. Swimming Club president

Mr. John Hodge, disappointed by the small attendance of parents out to see their children honoured, appealed for more parent interest, particularly on Saturday mornings occasionally and whenever club swimming events were held.

Mr. Hodge pointed out that the big task of keeping a club functioning that was so all important in young people's lives fell to the lot of a handful of people. "Mac" Adams praised those responsible for bringing the swimmers to such a high standard and he referred not only to successes within their own club, but against outstanding swimmers from other areas.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Quinn, a well-known couple in Port Macquarie, were married in St. Thomas' Church of England last Saturday.

The bride, formerly Ann Marshall, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Marshall. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Herb Quinn of Port Macquarie. The bride was attended by her sister, Wendy, as bridesmaid and Tony Whitelaw as flower girl. Best man was Jimmy McMullen, and page boy Jimmy Whitelaw.

The bride chose Pan Velvet for her frock which was made on princess lines. Over the gown, which was sleeveless with a square neck, she wore a matching embossed velvet coat with a long train. The bride's outstanding bouquet was ball shaped.

The bride and groom are making their home in Port Macquarie. The reception was held at the Surf Club and the caterers were The Silver Platter.
