But first, a curator is needed.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking expressions of interest from local music industry professionals for the Live and Local program curator's role.
Council's group manager economic and cultural development Liesa Davies said the council was looking for an active and connected member of our local music scene.
They could be an educator, producer, festival or event organiser or local musician.
"The project is centred on stimulating our local live music scene, so we are looking for someone who can design a vibrant program and engage with a diverse array of venues and musicians across our region," Ms Davies said.
The Live and Local program consists of a series of micro-festival events, a professional development campaign and an industry forum.
The curator will lead the engagement and programming of musicians and businesses to participate in live performance and professional development workshops.
They will also support the local industry forum and conduct an audit of key stakeholders and venues in our local live music scene to create better collaboration and connection in the future.
The curator's role is a paid, contract position with the successful applicant able to tailor their working hours around their current commitments.
The benefits of the program would be many and varied, Ms Davies said.
"We expect the program to reinvigorate our live music scene after the fires and COVID-19 events, foster relationships between musicians and venues, and increase live performance opportunities for local musicians and audiences," she said.
The program will connect venues with local musicians, building the connection for future performances.
Performers, through the professional development workshops, will be exposed to a range of musician-centred business and marketing skills to strengthen their practice.
"The industry roundtable and some future planning will support the growth and continuation of our local live music scene," Ms Davies said.
Expressions of interest for the Live and Local curator role can be lodged on the council's website.
The deadline is Sunday, June 13.
The Live and Local program will be delivered across the local government area in partnership with the Live Music Office.
