The Laurieton couple will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday [June 10].
Allan and Maureen, who met at a farewell party, married at St Mary's Catholic Church at Concord on June 10, 1961.
To this day, Maureen still has her wedding dress which she made.
The couple went on to have four children - Gary, Rodney, Jamie and Therese.
Allan came to Australia from New Zealand on a 12-month working holiday.
"It took me 10 years to get back to see mum and dad with a wife and four kids," he said.
Their family has grown to include 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with another one on the way.
Maureen and Allan will mark their 60th wedding anniversary with a quiet lunch followed by a family celebration on the weekend.
Allan said the past 60 years had gone too quickly.
They lived at Fairfield West, Ballina, Buderim and Summerland Point over the years before relocating to Laurieton in 1997.
Eight years ago, the Bradfords moved one kilometre from their Laurieton house to Queens Lake Retirement Village.
"We have enjoyed our life," Maureen said.
"We have done what we wanted to do our way. Even though we have done everything together, we've done our separate things as well."
Allan said there had never been "yours or mine" in their marriage.
They say trust, always being there for each other, love and togetherness are the secrets to a long and happy marriage.
"We are grateful for the friends we've had over that 60 years," Maureen said.
Allan added: "Life is great."
