The vigil is part of an ongoing campaign calling for a halt to the mining and extraction of new fossil fuels, especially fossil gas.
The silent vigil is on between 10am-11am at the corner of Horton and Clarence Streets, Port Macquarie (near the entrance to Town Green car park).
CCA president Kerri-ann Jones said her group considered a silent vigil to be an appropriate response to the "fossil-fuelled climate crisis".
"With heat records smashed, unprecedented wildfires, the biggest storms and droughts in history, ice caps melting and island communities fighting for survival, we know we are facing a climate emergency," Ms Jones said.
"Ending new coal and new gas is a matter of urgency. But our government continues to spend billions of dollars subsidising coal and gas.
"Our government's refusal to cooperate with other countries at last week's Climate Summit has branded Australia a laggard. We are better than this. Approving more fossil fuel extraction is just not compatible with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5-2 degrees."
People are encouraged to wear bright colours and bring sun protection or an umbrella if needed. Placards will be supplied, but people are welcome to make their own.
