An outstanding community service award will be presented in his honour.
Entries for the 2021 Greater Port Macquarie Business Awards are now open.
Entries for the Wayne Jackson Outstanding Community Service Award will open in mid-May.
The 2019 inaugural Wayne Jackson Outstanding Community Service Award went to the local organising committee chairman for Ironman Australia Port Macquarie, Mike Reid.
Wayne was a valued Port Chamber board member, had previously been involved with organising and planning the annual Business Awards events and served as treasurer for several years, until his tragic passing in June 2018.
Wayne worked in the banking industry locally since 1995 and was well known and respected within the business community.
Wayne's involvement in sport saw him volunteer with the Wauchope Soccer Club, as well as the Wauchope Blues Rugby League Club, where he historically served as a committee member, club treasurer, first aid officer and coach of both senior and junior teams.
He was regularly involved with charitable projects including Relay for Life, and the recent Him in Heels walk, Business House relays, as well as many other community events. A founding member of the annual Business Awards, Wayne was crucial in providing support through sponsorship and volunteering.
In honour of his contributions to the local community, nominations are now open for the annual Wayne Jackson Outstanding Community Service Award, which will be presented at the gala awards dinner on July 31, 2021.
Entrants are required to meet the award criteria through demonstration of their commitment to the Port Macquarie-Hastings community.
