The free barbecue was hosted to support flood victims at North Haven Club reserve on April 18.
Event organiser Ashleigh Pinson said the free family day was a nice day to rest amid the flood clean up.
"A few of us that have been involved in the clean up want to do a little bit of respite for flood victims, say thank you to volunteers and bring everyone together," Miss Pinson said.
"The whole point of the day was to bring everyone together in the community. It was totally non-profit and it was very community driven. There were jumping castles, free toys for every child.
"We had people coming and going all day. There was probably between 500 to 1000 people attending over the day."
Miss Pinson said more than 1500 sausages were donated by Woolworths, Saxbys and Coles donated soft drinks, Coates Hire donated toilets, J.R Richards donated bins and recycle bins.
Pitmaster Adam Roberts attended the event with a barbecue and smoker.
"Port Macquarie-Hastings Council were great and fast-tracked our application to hold the event because they could see it was community driven," Miss Pinson said.
"The new CEO Dr Clare Allen even came down on the day and showed her support with the community. That was pretty good considering she hasn't been there that long."
