After spending years living and studying traditional music in West Africa, Miriam's music features distinctly African influences, blues-infused melodies and her unmistakable voice.
Miriam's albums are soulful collections of stories, beautifully told through strings, African kora (a 21-string African harp) and soaring vocal harmonies.
During 2020 Miriam worked on her sixth album, alongside fellow musicians Lara Goodridge and Susie Bishop.
Lara is well known to local audiences for her performances with the group FourPlay, and likewise Susie Bishop has been a regular visitor to Wauchope as a member of Chaika.
"In this crazy past year of uncertainty, I've come back to my songwriting after a hiatus of becoming a mum," Miriam said.
"The result is an album of new songs about our incredible and fragile planet, about becoming a mum, about imagination and about our need for each other. It's my intention to empower and uplift people with this music."
Miriam, Susie and Lara will play their new single, Infinite We Are and songs from her imminent new album release at Wauchope Community Arts Hall on Saturday, May 8. Doors open from 7.30pm, with music from 8pm.
Opening the show will be popular local folk duo Jan and Rob Snow, the SnowPeez.
