Oxley MP Melinda Pavey said the upgrade, delivered under the state government's Transport Access Program, meant Wauchope Station was now fully accessible to all customers, including people with a disability or limited mobility, parents and carers with prams and customers with luggage.
"The improvements mean customers now have access to new ambulant toilets and a family-accessible toilet, while security and safety has also been increased with improved CCTV and lighting," Mrs Pavey said.
"As part of the upgrade, we've also created a new accessible car space and upgraded the ramp and footpaths around the station.
"On top of boosting access, the project created about 20 local jobs, which is a big win for the local community.
"This work means that Wauchope Station is able meet the needs of customers of all ages and mobility levels now and into the future."
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the 470 station upgrades across regional parts of the state are being delivered thanks to an additional $112 million in the 2020-21 NSW Budget as part of the Transport Access Program, with a further $80 million to progress future upgrades.
"Upgrades like this ensure that stations have the amenities to support growth in public transport and build upon our vision to make public transport a first-choice for everyone living in the regions," Mr Toole said.
