The unit was called out on Wednesday (April 14) to rescue a cat stuck in a fence.
One of the cat's back paws was caught in the paling fence.
Two NSW SES Port Macquarie volunteers attended the call-out and another three were on the way if needed.
NSW SES Port Macquarie unit commander Michael Ward said it was a case of pushing one of the palings to create a large enough gap to slide the cat's paw out.
The process only took three to four minutes.
"We make sure we look after people's fur babies," Mr Ward said.
"This is by no means the first, and won't be by any means the last, cat we've rescued."
The pet was placed in a cat carrier and a visit to the vet was recommended.
