The four-time premiership-winner will hope to pass on her extensive knowledge as coach of the club's league tag side.
It will be a distinct changing of the guard for the Breakers who have won five of the seven grand finals they have competed in.
"We definitely have potential, but like most other clubs our pre-season has been a bit all over the shop with the girls having different sporting commitments so time will tell," Mascord said.
"We'll play it as it comes."
But outside of footy, it's all been happening with Mascord tying the knot with husband Adam last December while they are expecting their first child in September this year.
She admits her priorities are likely to change over time, but is fortunate to have some experienced heads such as Laura Cudmore, Amy Goodman and Kara Lewis in the playing group.
New mum Jazzy Wilbow is assistant coach and will help out where possible.
"It's definitely a changing of the guard; there are a lot of young girls that have come through which is good, but we have no expectations," Mascord said.
"I'm going to have to be a lot more organised because this time I'm not just showing up to train, I've got to plan it and have some ideas.
"It will be a bit more time consuming."
The opportunity to take the coaching role was her way of giving back to a club that had provided her with so much enjoyment in her playing days.
"I felt like I had to do something; I didn't want to see it go to nothing after such a successful decade," she said.
And what was likely to happen if the planets aligned and bub was due on the same weekend as the grand final?
"There's plenty of support around; it's a good club and someone will step in and help out," she said.
