The state government introduced the voucher program to create an economic boost for dining, arts and tourism businesses, which have been impacted by COVID-19, and encourage customers to get out and about safely.

Port Jet owner Jodi Heeney said there had been "pretty solid interest" in the vouchers.

The business has reopened after the floods and customers are already using their vouchers.

Mrs Heeney believes the vouchers will really come into play in a big way during the whalewatching season.

All NSW residents aged 18 and over can apply for the Dine and Discover NSW vouchers.

There are four $25 vouchers - two Dine NSW vouchers and two Discover NSW vouchers - to spend in participating businesses.

The vouchers can only be used in eligible industries and at participating businesses with a COVID safety plan and registered as COVID-safe.

Inside Out at Lighthouse owner Gabby Baker believes Dine and Discover NSW has positives for participating businesses and customers.

The business has found customers who would have normally picked up a coffee or something small are spending the vouchers on a bigger breakfast, for example.

Mrs Baker said being somewhere nice to eat brought a little bit of that comforting feeling when people had been through so much.

Wauchope Country Club secretary manager Claudia Buckby said the response had been positive.

She said it was very hard to gauge if the program had attracted new clientele.

"However, we are happy regardless," Ms Buckby said.

From a business perspective, the initiative was easy to use, she said, and the refunds came through quite quickly.

The vouchers, which are valid until June 30, 2021, can be used seven days a week including public holidays.
