Of course we want the community to have their say and we will be holding community consultations but just haven't gotten to that part yet.
It's a long and complicated process. I should start by reminding Cr Rob Turner that we polled a constant 75 per cent in Port News poll for a tidal pool and also second only to roads in last council election as to what was important to the people of Port Macquarie.
You cannot simply deduct the 18,000 petitioners from the entire population of Port Macquarie and claim they are opposed to the tidal pool...his claim of 62,000 is simply ridiculous!
Most of the issues mentioned in the article such as site selection, environmental impacts, heritage, public amenities, traffic and car parking were covered in the feasibility study.
Further detailed Parking and Traffic Assessment is needed as only preliminary undertaken as yet, but will be needed of course before Development Application can be lodged.
Because of strong state and federal government support we're now in a great position to bring this valuable asset to the community of Port Macquarie and tourism
