IT'S time to get your ducks in a row for one of Lions' biggest fundraisers of the year.
Sunday, April 11 will see Port Macquarie Lions release over 2,000 ducks into Kooloonbung Creek for their annual race to raise much-needed money for several local community organisations.
Lions have been keeping an eye on the tides and the predicted winds and this year they'll fire up the barbecue from 10am.
The two races will kick off to the cry of "release the ducks" shortly after. It promises to be a great family day.
People can join the Business House Duck Race and the Public Duck Race.
The Business House Duck Race sees local businesses go head-to-head after purchasing their uniquely numbered special Business Duck for $25.
The winner will head off to Opal Cove, Coffs Harbour for a relaxing break.
Business house ducks are still for sale by contacting Ian Turner on 0418 688 207.
The Public Duck Race will see 1,800 caged ducks lifted by crane high above Kooloonbung Creek where they will have a bird's-eye view of the finish line before the bottom of the crate opens up.
At one ticket for $3 or two tickets for $5, you can purchase a duck in advance from Lions' locations around Port Macquarie.
You will find Lions at local shopping centres or the front of the Commonwealth Bank in Horton Street. You can also purchase on the day of the race. Each ticket number corresponds to a duck in the race so there are just 1,800 chances to win first prize of $500.
This major annual fundraiser of Port Macquarie Lions will see the proceeds shared between three worthy local institutions - Endeavour House, Hastings Education Fund and Marine Rescue.
