Volunteers are meeting at the industrial park in Laurieton for a briefing at 7.30am each day to assist residents impacted by recent flooding in North Haven and Dunbogan.
Tipper-trailer trucks, scrap metal bins, skid steers and volunteers were organised by Wauchope road construction company, Stabilcorp.
North Haven resident Sue Harris said the volunteering tradies were a god-send for recovering families and pensioners.
"We're cleaning up today, seeing what's salvageable and what to throw out," she said.
"Trades people have come through. We had an electrician come for free to check the meter box and he checked all five houses in a row.
"The community spirit is fantastic. There are a thousand stories of people doing amazing things, really generous things."
Kerbsides were beginning to fill with water-logged household debris and appliances when help arrived, said North Haven resident Marg Bamptom.
"There was local earth-moving people like Michael Lee and Heath Porter who came through with a fleet of trucks. They went from house to house taking people's rubbish from the roadside," she said.
"They volunteered their machinery first and there are now other contractors doing the same.
"There have also been electricians going around checking on people, but we haven't seen anyone from the council."
North Haven resident Jack Foster said many homeowners he had spoken to did not have insurance for flooding.
"This is not the most wealthy area and there are a lot of battlers here. Add to that, some of the people have been quoted $20,000 for flood insurance here," he said.
"The last flood was a one-off about 63 years ago and you say to yourself 'it will never flood here'. Unfortunately it did and already struggling people have been hit hardest."
