The Hope Shop is providing a helping hand to flood-affected residents.
Food and clothing are available now, while the Hope Shop plans to provide furniture when the time is right.
Hope Shop manager Sue Munro said the greatest need seemed to be food.
"The most important role we see is being that contact point so people can come in and get some help for that immediate need, whether it's food or clothing," she said.
A group of people from Honour Church and Hope Shop volunteers are cooking meals.
The Hope Shop is also providing Woolworths and IGA vouchers.
Mrs Munro is impressed with the community spirit in response to the flood.
"I think Port Macquarie is doing a fabulous job of helping people in need because people matter," she said.
The Hope Shop premises in Milton Circuit experienced water damage due to the rain but the organisation remains committed to supporting the community.
