So much so that a new Facebook group has been established precisely for identification purposes.
The Mid North Coast horse/livestock flood recovery! group exceeded 1000 members in a matter of hours.
Its intention is to be "a place to post any livestock dead or alive to help owners locate or have peace of mind".
And the photo below is the exact reason why the group was formed. Cows are rarely in the backyards of homes on Port Macquarie's canals. But this one found safety in Newport Crescent.
Port Macquarie businessman Alistair Flower captured a similar scenario on Saturday morning.

And it wasn't just Port Macquarie either. Posts from Kundabung, Rollands Plains, Taree and all points in between give an insight into the extent of the problem.
Old Bar locals have rescued a calf from the surf this morning, the ABC's Kerrin Thomas reported.
"It's believed the poor thing washed down the flooded Manning River," she tweeted. "Resident Maxine Pertzel sent me this picture and says the calf is now in a nearby paddock and doing well."
On Oxley Island, near Taree, kayaks were put to use as people did their best to rescue stranded livestock.
