Long-time locals Ian and June Walker have travelled all over Australia and the world, but it was the Mid North Coast of NSW that captured their hearts and minds, and the couple is ready for a fresh chapter in the area they love at new over-50s lifestyle resort GemLife Rainbow Beach.

The active and adventurous pair, who have lived in the region for 25 years, are the resort's first contract holders and look forward to moving into their new home later this year, making good use of the first-class facilities on offer and taking advantage of the lock-up and go lifestyle.

"We were delighted when GemLife decided to build a resort at Lake Cathie. We saw GemLife Bribie Island, before GemLife Rainbow Beach was announced, so we knew what to expect in terms of quality and facilities," June said.

The Walkers liked that they could choose from a range of home designs, colour schemes and facade styles, and were impressed by the generous number and high quality of the inclusions.

Keen caravanners, the couple has explored much of Australia and, having lived in another over-50s resort previously, appreciate the security and peace of mind that comes from living within a gated estate.

"Lock-up and leave is our motto. Living in a secure resort environment makes travel so easy," June said.

Originally from the United Kingdom, the well-travelled pair also lived in Kenya, Nairobi, and Mombasa for seven years, where they had their children and experienced first-hand the spectacular African landscape and wildlife.

But after a brief return to the UK, the couple were drawn to the warmth, diversity, and beauty of Australia, particularly the Mid North Coast.

"Nothing beats this area. You have great weather, great beaches, and great wineries, and the history of Port Macquarie," June said.

"There's plenty of shopping, a top-notch hospital and medical services, and it's just 12 minutes from the golf club."

GemLife Rainbow Beach will feature a two-storey country club, home to a magnesium-enriched indoor pool with spa, sundeck, gym, ten-pin bowling alley, virtual golf, luxury cinema, bar and café, wine room, indoor bowls green, as well as a rooftop terrace and lounge. Outdoor facilities will include a Summer House with infinity-edge pool and spa, in addition to an off-leash dog run, tennis and bocce courts.

The Walkers keep fit with regular walks in the great outdoors as well as dancing, and look forward to using the resort facilities.

"Ian likes to run - he's completed marathons and half-marathons, and loves his golf, so he'll enjoy the virtual golf. We'll use the pool, ten-pin and pickleball too," June said.

"We're pleased with our decision to join the GemLife 'family'. We're excited at the prospect of a beautiful home all completed - just for us! And making new friends too. I hope to entice my old neighbours to join us here."

The master-planned resort will feature over 160 two and three-bedroom homes.

GemLife Rainbow Beach is located at 20 Forest Parkway, Lake Cathie. For more information call 1800 718 413 or visit: www.gemlife.com.au
