At 12.30pm on Monday, February 15, a 22-year-old Taree woman attended Taree Court House.
At 12.45pm police approached the woman in the foyer of the courthouse after information was received that she was carrying illegal drugs. The woman allegedly said to police, "I'm not that stupid to bring drugs into a court".
Police requested the woman follow them into a private room and informed her that they were going to search her in relation to the information received. The woman allegedly invited police to conduct a search.
Police went to search her brown wallet which was contained in her bag.
Police said the woman grabbed it, opened the wallet and removed something holding it in the palm of her hand.
When police asked what she had, she allegedly stated it was just "pot". The accused person was cautioned, and police informed her that "pot" was also an illegal drug and requested that she give it to police.
Police will allege the woman dropped a small clear resealable bag on the counter that contained clear granules.
Police allegedly asked the woman what the substance was, she stated it was a cutting agent used in methylamphetamine.
The accused person allegedly said the bag did not contain any illegal substance.
Police seized the substance, returned to Taree Police Station and conducted a presumptive test which showed that the substance was methylamphetamine.
The woman was charged with possessing a prohibited drug and will appear at Taree Local Court on February 16.
