Occupation: Rainfall writer and director Luke Sparke has fond memories of growing up in the Hastings.
"For me, it's one of those perfect memories," he said about his childhood here.
Mr Sparke recalls performing street theatre at Timbertown in the mid to late 1990s, regular visits to the beach and watching blockbusters at the Port Macquarie cinema in the Ritz Centre where Occupation: Rainfall is screening.
Fast forward to 2021 and Occupation: Rainfall, which brings to life a wild and war-torn dystopian vision of the land down under, has just been released in cinemas nationally.
Occupation: Rainfall, produced entirely independently, will have a special screening at Majestic Cinemas Port Macquarie at 7pm on Saturday (January 30).
Cast members Zac Garred (General Hospital), Dan Ewing (Love and Monsters), Kat Risteska (Home and Away), director Luke Sparke and producers Carly and Carmel Imrie and Alex Becconsal will attend the screening.
There will be a question and answer session after the screening as well as poster giveaways and photo opportunities.
Occupation: Rainfall, the follow-up to Occupation, picks up two years into an intergalactic invasion of earth where survivors in Sydney are fighting back in a desperate ground war.
As casualties mount by the day, the resistance and their unexpected allies uncover a plot that could see the war come to a decisive end.
The race is on to save mankind with the alien invaders determined to make earth their new home.
Filming with a cast of Australian and international talent wrapped up in December 2019.
Outside the box thinking was required during the post-production period due to the pandemic.
The end result features more than 1500 special effects and is described as an "action-packed, unstoppable thrill ride" that stretches from the scenic hills of the Blue Mountains to the battle-ravaged streets of Sydney.
