Flames head coach Katrina Hibbert and player Carly Boag visited Port Macquarie on January 21 for a two and a half hour school holiday session with around 30 local players.
The teenagers admitted it was exciting to be able to learn new skills and be coached by some of the coaches and players from the Flames.
"We're learning from professionals which will help improve our skills and hopefully I can learn new things to use during a game," Luca said.
"It's been good to meet the coaches and the players and be able to do some ball handling."
Fleur said it was exciting to have professionals visit the region where they could pass on their experience and knowledge.
"The session helped my skills and coordination which will help me in a game," she said.
Evie was looking forward to the upcoming basketball season after the pandemic brought an end to the 2020 season.
"It's good to get back onto the court and we've got a female coach of our under-16 team this year too which adds a different dynamic," she said.
Port Macquarie Basketball Association secretary Lyndal Harper believed the session would provide great encouragement for local players, especially females.
"We are looking to boost numbers of women playing the sport and having the chance to train with talented, nationally recognised players on your home court is a great way to do that," she said.
"Registrations will open shortly for the 2021 competitions and our representative squads have been training throughout January.
"We've still got some opportunities for players in our 12s and 14s age groups who'd like the extra development of the rep program."
