Michael Rohr's own children have provided him with endless inspiration on the delicate but funny subject of flatulence. So many fabulously farty ideas in fact, that he wrote a book about it.
The Port Macquarie author has just released his latest book Cowboy Monkey Talks Fluff through publisher Boolarong Press and with the support of Bookface in Port Macquarie.
The former infantry soldier, now nurse, is a specialist unit manager in community health. His job with the Mid North Coast Local Health District involves managing a team across areas including dietetics, hospital in the home and chronic care in Kempsey, Wauchope and Port Macquarie community health.
It was in nursing, Michael says, where he further enhanced his knowledge of farts under varid and challenging conditions.
"Many patients would be considered experts releasing the orchestral tones of bass and alto," he said.
While Michael loves his job, he realised he needed a productive outlet for his creativity.
The devoted dad of two allows his imagination to flow freely whenever he tells off-the-cuff bedtime tales to bring joy to his kids James, 9, and Zsofia, 12.

Children follow a monkey in a cowboy hat as he teaches children the circumstances of when it is appropriate, and not so appropriate, to fluff with this great rhyming story.
As a writer, Michael has an innate ability to glean inspiration from anywhere - even his son's blue and green monkey plush toy, Monkey, who is now the protagonist in his latest release.
Michael said his son loves his Monkey stories so much, he ends up telling him a new one every night.
"The book is designed to be the 'vaccine for the soul' and bring a smile to the face of the reader and spread joy during this difficult year we have had," Michael said.
Michael has also landed a contract with a UK publisher for a Christmas story, to be released next year and has a short story published with City Limits Publishing in the US after being successfully selected following a competition submission.
The book was launched and is available at Port Macquarie's Bookface and will be distributed nationwide in 2021.
