The Board of Directors said they could not see a way forward through the ongoing uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions and rules for holding an event.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show has also changed its dates to coincide with the Wauchope Show, drawing away exhibitors, competitors and attendees.
In over 100 years, only a World War and a pandemic have been able to stop the beloved community event.
"We intend our next Show to be bigger and better than ever with many new facilities and attractions and look forward to seeing the whole community come together again in 2022," vice president David Crofts said.
The Wauchope Show Society however, reflects on its achievements in 2020 and the challenges during this time.
Grants have been received for new grandstands, stables, repairs to the undercover arena and hall floor, security gates and a disabled toilet block.
The showground also acted as an evacuation centre during the bushfires and hosted Blazeaid to help farmers rebuild their destroyed fences.
The Show Society was hoping to show off the "new showground" in April but the big reveal will be postponed until the 2022 show event.
