The Jets last visited the area in July 2018 when they hammered a Football Mid North Coast representative select side 9-0 as part of their preparations for the 2018/19 A-League season.
A lack of an available venue in Port Macquarie then scuppered any hope they would return in 2019.
The club then secured a trial match against Brisbane Roar in Coffs Harbour on December 12.
They then needed somewhere to stop on the way - and Wayne Richards Park was available.
With a new facility earmarked for Sovereign Hills, FMNC chairman Mike Parsons believed Port Macquarie would soon be in a position to lock in annual visits from the club.
"Once we have our own facility we can then avail ourselves at a moment's notice and we look forward to being able to host matches," he said.
"Hopefully we can get back to the halcyon days when we had them up here on a regular basis."
With the Sovereign Hills project now well underway, Mr Parsons remained hopeful of obtaining additional funding which would allow them to "expedite" the facility.
"If we do that, hopefully it will be finished inside 18 months or two years and before the Women's World Cup."
Port Saints junior Angus Thurgate continues to impress with the departure of Dimitri Petratos in the off-season providing him with an opportunity to press his claim for a starting berth.
A new owner is believed to be announced in coming weeks with the process hoped to be completed by their season opener in Gosford on December 31.
"With that changing of the guard (with ownership), our hope is the Jets will be far more financially viable," Mr Parsons said.
"That will allow them to involve more regional areas where a majority of their supporter base comes from."
Most of the squad will be at Wayne Richards Park between 4pm and 5.30pm on December 8 to hold a coaching clinic and meet and greet.
Due to COVID-19 requirements, numbers are limited to 100 so all attendees will need to register online.
