Mr Cooper passed away in March last year after a lengthy battle with Motor Neurone Disease and Wauchope captain/coach Ash Thomas wanted a way they could show their respects.
It resulted in a few phone calls and enough girls showed enough interest to field a similar team to the one they played in more than five years ago.
"The reason we got back together this season is a lot of us had stopped playing outdoor soccer and we had a memorial here for Jeff Cooper who passed away from Motor Neurone Disease last year," Thomas said.
"He coached most of us girls who got back together so we all wore shirts and had a big chat about how our team name would incorporate Jeff Cooper and Motor Neurone."
They finished the outdoor season in third position before an opportunity to join the Optus Sevens presented itself.
That was how "WCJC4MND" was born - an acronym representing 'Wauchope Club Jeff Cooper For Motor Neurone Disease'.
"It's been an extension of our outdoor soccer season," Thomas said.
Mr Cooper had a positive influence having coached her after she took up the sport with only a tennis and touch football background.
"As a coach he understood what it was that you knew already," she said.
"He taught me how to play soccer by using different other sporting analogies and was really constructive.
"He expected a high standard, but supported you to get to the high standard and because he believed in you it enabled you to achieve."
The team will feature in the semi finals on December 4 at the Port Macquarie Hockey Fields.
"When it came to the Sevens we didn't go in with an expectation of winning it," Thomas said.
"We just went in wanting to continue the great season we had and have some fun because MND is important for us so whatever we can do for that is a bonus."
Should they win their semi-final, they will win either $1000 as champions or $500 from being runner-up.
