On Tuesday 24th November, I watched several workers constructing a fake Christmas tree at Town Green adjacent to a real, live Norfolk Island Pine, the symbol of our region. I am wondering why the Council feels the need to construct and decorate a fake Christmas tree when there is a perfectly good tree already there. Surely in these difficult times we should be saving money, and the environment, by taking advantage of what is already in place? I feel that this is a complete waste of ratepayers money which could be better used to make this Christmas season a little bit more enjoyable for some of our residents who are feeling the hard times.
